New Year's A Great Time For Annual Website Review

Out with the old, and in with the new! And so it is with our website elements. The start of a new year is a great time to review our websites and make sure that anything that's changed throughout the past year has been updated appropriately.
- Update Copyright Year--The first thing to do at the start of a new year is to update the copyright year in your footer. Keeping this record updated shows that someone is maintaining the website at least annually, and it also helps to protect your page content from unauthorized use.
- Update Your Contact Info--Check your contact information to make sure that it's still valid. Did you have a change in staff that needs to be added or deleted? Did anyone's email or phone number change? Did your address change? If you don't have the proper contact information, your visitors will not be able to contact you.

Promote Your Website Instead of Your Phone Number on Changeable Signs

Today's Tip: If you're using a "changeable copy" physical sign to make an announcement, promote your website address instead of your phone number. It's just as easy, and much more productive--it reduces the necessity of answering phone calls generated by the announcement, and lets your website do all the work:
- Sending inquiries to your website instead of to your phone reduces your workload--instead of having to repeatedly answer the phone and give out the same information over and over again to different callers, your website has all the detailed information, and perhaps more. Visitors can still call you with further questions, but more than likely, your website has answered them.
- It announces that you do, in fact, have a website at all, and chances are that not only will people visit your website in this instance to get more detailed information about the announcement, they'll visit again in the future for other inquiries.
